Head Chef

FLSA Status: Exempt

Report to: Chief Executive Officer

Supervises: Cook & Dishwasher

At BOBA BREW & BBQ, the head chef is responsible for the creation and development of either permanent or rotating menu items as well as the overall management of the kitchen.  The head chef will also work closely with the purchasing manager to order any supplies they may or may not need for service.

Job Details

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Development of menu items

  • Calculating of costs associated with the kitchen

  • Management of the cook and dishwasher

  • Ensuring health codes and laws are met within the kitchen area

  • Overseeing and handling of food preparation, cooking, and cleaning

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proven success at a prior food establishment

  • Strong decision-making skills, multitasking/time management skills, and management skills

  • Excellent leadership abilities

  • Strong sense of creativity

  • Strong mathematical skills

  • Health Certificate

Experience & Education:

  • High school diploma

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in the related area

  • At least 2-3 years as a cook or sous chef

Physical Requirements:

  • Long periods of standing

  • Must be able to lift 25-30 pounds daily

  • Strong dexterity
